This pop-up, mobile concert brings the artist directly to the neighborhood of Highland Park and is meant to be intimate, viewed from the porch, the front yard, or from the comfort and safety of one’s home.

Sidewalk Detroit and Kresge Arts in Detroit Present: NOW:FUTURE Mobile Neighborhood Concert Series These pop-up, mobile concerts bring the artist directly to Detroit neighborhoods and are meant to be intimate, viewed from the porch, the front yard, or from the comfort and safety of one’s home. Detroit’s own "Queen of the Blues" presents a healing evening for the neighborhood to come together. Featuring some of her favorite blues songs mixed with songs from her latest release "Honest Woman". Thornetta Davis will be joined by Brett Lucas on Guitar and James (Jamalot Indeed)Anderson on percussion. Thornetta Davis is a 2018 Kresge Fellowship Awardee and The Official “Detroit’s Queen of Blues”. Thornetta’s lastest CD Honest Woman, which she wrote and produced, has won numerous awards including eight Detroit Music Awards, 2 BLUES MUSIC AWARDS 2017 Nominations for "Best Song" and "Best Blues Album Emerging Artist" also Blues Blast Magazine Music Award for “Best Soul/Blues Album, Thornetta was also nominated for a 2019 and 2020 Blues Music Award for best Soul/ Blues artist female. Thornetta also received a French 2017 La Academie du Jazz Award for Best Blues Album. Thornetta’s live performances will leave you feeling uplifted and asking for more. About NOW:FUTURE: NOW:FUTURE is a summer series of public art events and online engagements to highlight the contributions of Kresge Artist Fellows and Gilda Award recipients to Detroit’s dance, theatre, film, and music communities. The theme, NOW:FUTURE asks artists to reflect on their experiences and the world around them as it relates to our current cultural, political, and personal landscape.
